Description: Byzantine Empire gold Solidus Constans II (641-668 AD). Constantinople mint, 7th officina issued c.654-58. (S. 959, DOC.25g var, MIB 26). Obverse: Constans facing with long bearded bust and Constantine IV on right, both with chlamys and crown, cross on top with cross in field and DN CONSTANTINUS C CONTAI around. Reverse: cross potent on base and three steps, with VICTORIA AVGUZ (Z reversed) around, CONOB in exergue. Mint bloom and virtually as struck.
