Description: George Clymer, Declaration of Independence signer from Pennsylvania (1739–1813). Partly-printed DS, signed Geo Clymer (1 page, 6.25 x 2.75) May 9, 1814 on Philadelphia Bank promissory note for 20 Dollars payable to D. Edward, signed at the bottom by Clymer. With ink cancellation strokes through signature, moderate toning, soiling and damp staining. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and COA by RR Auctions. Very Rare. George Clymer advocated for complete independence from Britain. He attended the Continental Congress and served in political office until the end of his life. He was a Framer of the Constitution and signed both The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. He was elected to the Continental Congress and member of the Board of War and the Treasury Board. He helped strengthen Washingtons authority, and in retirement, was elected first president of Philadelphia Bank, the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts and vice-president of the Philadelphia Agricultural Society.
